beautifully handcrafted writing sets, cards, wrapping paper and gift tags.
The word ‘paper’ is derived from
papyrus used in Ancient Egypt. The stems of the papyrus plant were used to
weave mats which were then wetted with muddy waters from the Nile. They
were then pounded together to form a hard, thin sheet and left to dry in
the sun.
The earliest evidence of papermaking as
it is known today can be traced to China in about AD 105. The Chinese kept
their invention hidden for over 600 years until the Arabs conquered
Samarkand in the eighth century. The technique then spread along the trade
routes and reached central Asia by AD 751. Today, making paper by hand
remains a similar process to that used by the early papermakers.
At BelaS we are intensely passionate
about bringing you paper products that are different, elegant, exotic and
stunning. Our objective is to bring paper culture into everyday life.
Our wide range of products include
